A Special Friendship....

My friend Karl always says to me: "All boys need a dog." Easy for him to say....he doesnt have any 'little boys.' Haha....

Callum and Maira both LOVE dogs, and Callum asks for a dog ALL THE TIME. He has developed a very special relationship with Annie, Cindy and Dana's "Goldendoodle" next door (half Golden Retriever...half poodle...). Annie is a tremendous dog, and she loves kids. Since Cindy and Dana have an invisible fence/shock collar for her, she cannot come over to our yard. So, today, while Amanda and Maira were at Sams Club shopping, Callum (who previously begged me to take him to the track to do some 'speedwork,' opted instead to play with Annie--he dragged ALL of his toys over to Cindy and Dana's driveway (his slide...trucks...diggers...balls....sidewalk chalk....and huge 2x4s) and just kind of....played. He did his thing. Annie did her thing. Sometimes they did their thing together. But, for over an hour, they were not more than 3 feet apart. It was very special.....

If you know Callum, you know that he NEVER poses for pictures....unless it is with Annie....

It was a beautiful day today (yes....after this bitterly cold winter even I am saying that!!!) and we spent a huge amount of time outside....Callum and Maira played basketball, hockey, football, and 'running.' But the grass is one big swamp!!!

While Callum and Annie played, Lupine, being her shady, creepy, shifty little self, took cover in the (now) empty wood shed and watched. 'Soon,' she said to herself. 'Soon..................'

While everyone played, I did some inventory of the firewood situation. With the exception of 6 HUUUUGE pieces of oak (that I cannot split because...well....I cant even hold a broom never mind a 12 pound maul....), we are completely out of the wood I planned to use this year. Now, for morning/evening 'hot and fast' fires, I am going through about a quarter of a cord of 'kinding wood' I have in the garage. We still have this wood......

....but these (about) three cords will be a good start for next year. Soon, it will be time to play 'musical wood,' and move some of this into the woodshed...put green wood on the pallets...and on and on and on.....I wonder when I will be able to stack wood??

And, not to be forgotten, here is a picture of the devil....I mean...Maira....who is getting ready to dye Easter eggs this afternoon (Saturday).

This is a whole other story....and I will post pictures of this whole 'experience' tomorrow. Okay?

great.

Callum is so good with dogs and he has so much fun! I'm thinking maybe I'll just have to get him one for his birthday! Why do you say such nasty things about Lupine? You are very fortunate to have her. She is the sweetest most lovable cat. If I'm not mistaken, she stayed by your side offering comfort after your operation. And Maira is not a devil, she is just devilish and oh so cute!
