The Scenter of the Universe

Hi - Amanda and Jared here. Jared's dictating and I am typing. I may also put some comments of my own in amongst Jared's ramblings. They will be marked with *.

No pictures today -- we're in Connecticut and we forgot our memory stick adaptor for Kranthony's computer. We will upload pictures when we get home on Sunday night. We got to Connecticut late last night and we left early this morning for the Yankee Candle Flagship Store in Deerfield, Massachusetts. *Jared likes to call it the Yankee Candle theme park*. It was SO crowded, SO overwhelming and SO rich in scents. In addition to literally millions of candles there was also a Bavarian Christmas village where they sold steins, nutcrackers *the kind that I used to get when I was little!* and lots of Department 56 Christmas village stuff. *It even snowed in the village every 4 minutes*! There was a little machine that dispersed little "snow flakes" made of soap flakes. Meanwhile, while we looked at Christmas stuff inside, it was 90 degrees outside, hot and humid.

We got some early Christmas shopping done and we picked up a few new treats for ourselves as well, including a candle called "Fireside" which is one of Anthony's favorites. Everyone looked like they were at a concentration camp for two reasons: one, the place was so packed and breaking every fire code violation imaginable because of the size of the crowds. Two, they had this special promotional game going where everyone wore a "serial number" sticker on their chest and if you found someone else in the store with the same number as you, you won a $20 gift certificate -- but to Jared it looked like a bunch of German prisoners of war buying candles.

Now we're back at Chelsea's house getting ready for what looks to be a great day tomorrow with tons of food. Daddy Henry and Barbara are coming early, so we've got to get to bed. Good night.
